A punching die comprises a closed knife 1 of strip steel, a base-plate located within the confines of the knife, and angle brackets securing the knife to the base-plate, the periphery of the base-plate being spaced inwardly of the knife at least in the regions of the brackets. The blade 1, Fig. 2, may be attached to the angle brackets 2 by rivets 5, lugs 6 punched into the flange 4 of each bracket 2 being driven into the base-plate 7. Alternatively, Fig. 4, a double-edged knife 11 may be riveted to brackets 12 whose flanges 14 are in turn riveted to the base-plate 17. Further, Figs. 7-9 (not shown), the base-plate may engage in a longitudinal groove of the knife in the regions between neighbouring securing brackets. Suction cups, magnetic holders &c may be provided on the base-plate for attachment to a press plate, and insert knives may be secured to the closed knife or the base-plate, Figs. 1 and 5 (not shown).</p> |
