[Also in Division B1] A sheet 121 of polyurethane foam filtering medium is attached to the outside of a rotatable filtering drum (Division B1/2) over a supporting layer of wire mesh 122, the two ends of the sheet being gripped between inturned tangs 146, 147 on a channel 148, secured in a large channel 138 which extends axially of the drum. Fig. 10 (not shown) illustrates how the two axially spaced edges of the sheet are clamped to the drum by nylon bands 123 whose ends are tightened by clamps (124). The drum comprises axial bars (57) and 138 to which wire mesh layer 122 is secured .by snap fasteners (136) and 144, 145. In another embodiment (Figs; 5, 6, not shown) the ends of the sheet are sandwiched with two clamping bars (69., 72), which have 'separate staggered .screws attaching them to axial channel (65). The axially spaced edges are clamped in annular channels 'by annular straps. Fig'. 6 illustrates two drums located in axial alignment, their respective sheets overlapping. |
