Moisture resistant pigmented paper as imitation cork for filter tipped cigarettes. F6A. Contains CaCO3 and/or TiO2 as fillers for increased opacity, and an iron oxide pigment. It includes an alkyl-ketene dimer and cationic polyalkylamine for resistance to saliva. The brownish red base paper is printed with irregular yellow spots using clear ink in surface hollows for faithful simulation of material cork appearance. The wet paper web during making may have one surface coated with paraffin emulsion for additional moisture resistance. The finished paper has a smooth velvet surface with easy release from the lips. Production is cheaper and simpler than separate printing of imitation cork pattern on to finished paper.
