Heat transfer device consists of a closed tubular container in which a heat transfer medium is evaporated at an evaporation point and condensed at the same pressure at a condensing point. A capillary block carries the liquid medium under capillary action from the condensation point to the evaporation point while a non-capillary channel carries the vapour phase medium from the evaporation position to the condensing point. The evaporation point is in the form of a plate with several projecting sections in its central part. The distance between these projections is so small that the inter-spaces exert a capillary effect on the heat transfer medium in the block and their cross sectional face at right angles to the projections on the base is at least half as big as their largest cross sectional face away from the base.
