1,240,135. Woven fabrics; centre selvedges. STATNI VYZKYMNY USTAV TEXTILNI. 29 Nov., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 56758/68. Headings DIE and D1K. A woven fabric comprises warps 3 interlaced alternately with at least one single weft 1 and at least one double pick 2 comprising hairpin picks 4 extending across a section of the fabric. The bights 7 of the hairpins of each pick extend in the same direction and may be looped through a previous bight to form a knitted wale 9. The loops 8 linking adjacent hairpins extend over at least one single weft or at least one single weft and one loop weft and are locked by an adjacent warp 10. The loops may be locked by a warp spaced from that associated with the knitted wale and the interveening warps may be omitted (Figs. 3, 5 not shown). The wale may be diagonal (Fig. 4 not shown); and may comprise oppositely orientated bights of adjacent fabric sections. The hairpin picks 4 are inserted by hollow needles 19 swinging to and fro in the warp sheds. Bights are looped around needles 17, arranged at spaced intervals, which are latched if a knitted wale is required or if not are bearded. The entire length of each single weft is inserted into the shed at once. Since the loop weft picking is relatively shorter than the single weft picking the slay motion is irregular e.g. is decelerated during one revolution and accelerated during the next. |
