Rocket with a spreadable empennage comprising a plurality of fins 19 which are held in their folded position around the nozzle 5 by holding devices 29 adapted to be released by the combustion gases of the socket, the holding devices being secured to the nozzle by rods 27 extending through bores 28 in the nozzle. The rods terminate in a nozzle closure disc 26. When the rocket is launched from a launcher tube, after ignition of the propellant charge, the disc 26 is flung away by the pressure of the combustion gases and simultaneously withdraws the rods 27 from lugs 30 of the holding devices 29. As soon as the rocket emerges from the launcher tube, the fins are swung up about axles 22 by springs 34 and throw off holding devices 29. |
