1346094 Linear motors FUJITSU Ltd 19 April 1971 [11 March 1970 25 June 1970 (4)] 23479/71 Heading H2A A linear stepping motor, e.g. for the worktable of a numerically controlled machine tool, comprises stationary and moving members each having a pair of parallel, toothed legs and one or each of which consists of a plurality of elements each carrying a winding, relative movement between the members taking place through rollers. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the moving member 1 is U-shaped and cooperates with U-shaped stationary elements 4, 5, 6 carrying three-phase windings 8, 9, 10 excited by control pulses, the positions of the elements being such that sets of teeth 7 on adjacent elements are staggered by one third of a tooth pitch with respect to each other. The stationary elements are carried by a casing 11 which embraces a support 3 of the member 1, the casing and support being interconnected through rollers 12. Member 1 also may consist of three individual elements each carrying an exciting winding, Fig. 3 (not shown). Fig. 4 shows another embodiment in which a moving member 19 rolling on rails 26 on either side of a stationary U-shaped member 15 carries five exciting elements 17 each being H-shaped with a winding 18 on the central limb. The elements 17 are attached to a supporting base 24 through a non-magnetic spacer 23 which may have holes (33) Fig. 8 (not shown) receiving pins (30) on a machine part (29) to be driven by member 19. The spaces between the teeth 16 of member 15 may be filled with synthetic resin, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) and wipers (28) may be attached to the ends of moving member 19 for cleaning the surface of member 15. |
