Crumble process bath with vertical shaft for slicer wires and stirrer designed as a perforated plate and integrated with the slicer. The planes in which these move are at angle, and the unit (slicer and stirrer) can swing between end points so that one of the tools is radial and the other at a tangent to their trajectory in these end positions. The unit can swing freely round the vertical axis and the resistance of the crumble is such that only one tool is in the working position for any one sense of arm rotation, and when the arm is reversed the resistance reverses and so brings the other tool into use. This enables processes to be controlled as required, with the tools changing positions without the usual dismantling and changeovers which take up time and manpower.
