A process for spraying viscous emulsions containing one or more agricultural chemicals, comprises continuously introducing into an enclosure separate streams of an oil phase and an aqueous phase, the volume ratio of oil to aqueous phase ranging from 1 : 50 to 1 : 3, allowing the phases to mix in the enclosure, allowing the resulting emulsion to issue through an exit port of the enclosure as rapidly as it is formed therein, and directing the emulsion on to a target area; one or both of the phases containing one or more agricultural chemicals and one or both of the phases containing one or more emulsifiers or emulsifier systems selected from the group consisting of:- (a) an emulsifier system (A) comprising an amine having the formula R1R2NR, wherein R represents a hydrocarbyl group containing from 10 to 20 carbon atoms and R1 and R2 individually represents a methyl or ethyl group, in admixture with an aliphalic acid containing from 8 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aromatic mono- or dicarboxylic acid containing from 7 to 20 carbon atoms; (b) an emulsifier system (B) comprising a condensation product of a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic primary amine containing from 10 to 20 carbon atoms in the aliphatic chain with 1 to 5 molecular proportions of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide, in admixture with an aliphatic acid containing from 8 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aromatic mono- or dicarboxylic acid containing from 7 to 20 carbon atoms; (c) an emulsifier (C) being a condensation product of an amide of an aliphatic acid containing from 10 to 20 carbon atoms with 1 to 5 molecular proportions of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide; (d) an emulsifier system (D) comprising a condensation product as specified under (b), in admixture with a condensation product as specified under (c); (e) an emulsifier (E) being a condensation product of a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic alcohol containing from 10 to 20 carbon atoms or an alkyl phenol or alkyl cresol containing from 6 to 9 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical with 2 to 7 molecular proportions of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide; and (f) an emulsifier (F) being a partial ester of a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acid containing from 10 to 20 carbon atoms with a polyhydric alcohol or a polyhydric ether alcohol. Agricultural chemicals specified are sulphur, cuprous oxide, copper oxychloride, 2, 4-D, 2, 4, 5-T, MCPA, MCPB, 2, 4-DP, 2, 45-TP, CMPP, salts or esters thereof; 3-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole; 1, 11-dimethyl-4, 41-dipyridylium dichloride, 1, 11-ethylene-2, 21-dipyridylium dibromide, sodium salt of 2, 2-dichloropropionic acid, 2, 6-dichlorobenzonitrile, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6-pentachlorophenol, 2, 6-dichlorothio-benzamide, 2, 4-dinitro-o-sec. butyl phenol, maleic hydrazide, D.D.T., BHC, chlordane, Toxaphene, aldrin, dieldrin, eridrin, telodrin, o, o-dimethyl-o-(2-carbomethoxy-1-methylvinyl) phosphate, 2-chloro-1-(2, 4 dichlorophenyl)-vinyl diethyl phosphate, Parathion, Methyl parathion, D.D.V.P, 3-(dimethoxy-phosphenyloxy)-N, N-dimethyl-cis-crotonamide, dimethyl-2-(alpha-methyl benzyloxy-carbonyl)-1-methylvinyl phosphate, Malathion (Registered Trade Mark), p-chlorophenyl-p-chlorobenzyl) sulphide, 2-(p-tert. butyl phenoxy)-isopropyl-2-chloroethyl sulphite, di-(p-chlorophenyl) methyl carbinol, Thiram, Zirieb and Captan. |
