One stage process for making grooved gutters at edges of roads and motorways

The process is carried out using a moving casing machine (9). The internal gutter is formed by a mould (5) which slides along as the concrete is poured and the groove in the top of the guttering is formed by the simultaneous introduction of a strip of plastics material (6) which forms the keystone and which is removed when the concrete has dried. The plastics strip is trapezoid and the same shape as the groove in the canal. The mould which forms the gutter may be oval or circular. Additives such as a plasticiser can be added to the concrete.
