PURPOSE:To permit a necessary amount of ink droplets for printing to be jetted by a method in which a pressure chamber connected to an orifice and an ink sump is provided, and the wall of the chamber is designed to be deformed by an electromechanical converter. CONSTITUTION:A recorder 11, including an ink sump 16, is led to a printing head 18 through a communication tube 17. A pulse voltage is sent through a wire 21 to the head 18 by an electron pulse generator 19, and ink droplets 22 are jetted from an orifice 24. The head 18 consists of a housing 36 to form a pressure chamber 37. Ink is sent from the ink sump 16 to the inlet path 38 of the pressure chamber through the tube 17. The pressure chamber 37 includes an outlet path 39, and the upper wall of the chamber 37 is formed of the pressure plate (flexible plate) 41 of a piezoelectric material. When positive voltage is applied and the plate 41 is flexed toward the inside of the chamber 37, the volume of the chamber 37 is reduced to apply a pressure to the ink inside the chamber 37, and the ink is partly pushed out to the outlet path 39 and jetted toward a recording paper 12. The rest of ink is returned through the tube 17 against the hydrostatic pressure of the ink sump 16 to said sump 16. |
