Polyurethanes are prepared by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with an organic polyol in the presence of a catalytic amount of phenyl mercuric p-fluorobenzoate, phenyl mercuric piodobenzoate, a phenyl mercuric m - halobenzoate, a chlorophenyl mercuric propionate, a bromophenyl mercuric propionate, a fluorophenyl mercuric propionate, an iodophenyl mercuric propionate, p-bromophenyl mercuric acetate, p-fluorophenyl mercuric acetate, piodophenyl mercuric acetate, phenyl mercuric dichloroacetate, phenyl mercuric dibromoacetate, phenyl mercuric difluoroacetate, phenyl mercuric bromoacetate, phenyl mercuric fluoroacetate or phenyl mercuric iodoacetate. Conventional polyisocyanates and polyethers or polyesters may be used to form the polyurethane. Fillers and pigments may be included in the reaction mixture.
