1,178,870. Packaging containers. SOBREFINA S.A. 16 Oct., 1967 [18 Nov., 1966], No. 46998/67. Heading B8D. A packaging container is formed by inserting an inner lining 1 provided with an annular flange 5 inside an outer sleeve 2, the flange 5 being turned down over the outside of the sleeve 2 to seal the joint. The inner lining may be formed of two parts 3, 4, preferably of polyvinylchloride, whilst the outer sleeve 2 may consist of a compressible material, e.g. cardboard, with an aluminium covering. The flange 5 may be formed with a bead 6 (Fig. 3, not shown), which when the flange is folded down is pressed into the outer sleeve (Fig. 4, not shown), to secure the lining to the sleeve. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown), the outer sleeve may consist of a tube (20) of thermoplastic material, e.g. polyethylene or of cardboard coated with a thermoplastic material and the inner lining (21) may be formed of a laminated material, e.g. polyethylene - aluminium - polyethylene such that the folded down flange of the lining can be sealed to the outer sleeve. Alternatively, polyvinylchloride may be used. This embodiment also has a cover (30) having on the underside the same composite material as the lining (21). Both the cover and the lining project over the upper edge of the sleeve (19), the projecting portions being welded together to form a flange which is then folded down against the outside wall of the sleeve and sealed thereto. |
