A layer of heavy metal shielding is laminated with at least one, esp. between two, layer(s) of glass fibre reinforced plastic for ease of handling during construction of chambers etc. Sheets of the laminate are clamped in U profile frames. The lamination provides mechanical rigidly for the relatively ductile metal sheet e.g. lead.
