The proposed process relates to the extraction of steroid hormones of insect metamorphosis in the form of a crystallised total product. This extraction is carried out on the seeds of plants from the genus Calonyction (Choisy) Hallier f., of the section Ipomoeae, of the family Convolvulaceae, coarsely ground beforehand, and with the fat removed by a hydrocarbon solvent. The extraction is carried out with a mixture comprising a chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon, an aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and an organic base. After concentrating, the crystallised total product is used for the extraction in the pure state of the polyhydroxylated steroids pure crustecdisone, pure ecdisone, makisterone "A" and pure muristerone. These insect metamorphosis hormones are used as insecticides having a biological action.
