Snow profile measurement probe

The depth of penetration of a rod-shaped carrier body (1) inserted into a layer of snow is determined by a position measurement device (2,3). A measurement device on one end of the carrier body measures the profile of the snow. The carrier body consists of several sub carrier bodies which can be connected together via connecting ends. A first sub carrier body carries the measurement device on the end remote from its connecting end. The carrier body is hollow, at least in some sections. The position measurement device has a snow support part along which the carrier body is moved.
