Apparatus wherein a polychromatic original picture to be copied, an exposure mask for holding a piece of sensitive paper, and an optical system for projecting monochromatic optical images of the polychromatic original picture over the charged sensitive paper are made integral to construct a projection system, the projection system is rotated intermittently and relatively with respect at least to a developing device for an electrostatic image and a fixing device for a developed visible picture, a plurality of sectional positions are formed around the central line of the relative rotation, and monochromatic pictures of colors different from one another are formed on the light-sensitive member at the respectively selected ones among the plurality of sectional positions, whereby a polychromatic picture is copied.
