1479598 Air heaters; burners; drying -HOTPOINT Ltd 17 Oct 1974 [19 Oct 1973] 48857/73 Headings F4T F4K and F4G A device for heating air which is circulated through a tumble dryer or the like comprises a gas or oil burner 13, a pivotable member 21 biased into the closed position and displaceable by the circulating air into an operative position in which it actuates means 26, 27, for supplying fluid to the burner, and igniting the latter, and means 28 for delaying the actuation of means 26 and/or 27, for a brief period following displacement of member 21. The dryer comprises a drum 1 rotated by an electric motor 5 through a belt and pulley, which motor also drives a fan 11. In operation, the air pressure acts on member 21 which pivots so that an ear 24 thereon actuates a microswitch 25 to operate fuel valve 26 and ignitor 27. The flap 21 has a damper plate 28 hinged thereto, which is biased into the closed position by a spring 32. The pivoting of flap 21 is retarded by air in an enclosure 29 acting on damper plate 28 so that the dryer is purged before switch 25 is actuated. |
