The manual controller is for copying work with profile cutters and grinders. The cutting tool is mounted on a linear/transverse slide, the X and Y coordinates of which are adjusted by motor-driven screw feeds. The motor speeds (relative to each other) are controlled by an OR-Gate circuit controlled by a foot-operated potentiometer. Control of the motors direction of drive is by two tapped potentiometers in conjunction with a steering linkage operated by the manual control disc. Eahc potentiometer has give tapping points dividing the track into four parts, each representing 90 deg. of angular displacement of the control knob. An optical projection system superimposes an image of the cutter and workpiece upon an enlargement of the required shape.
