<p>A coke car which is shorter than a coke oven chamber but broad enough to accept a full charge of coke cake from one chamber includes a cage with a solid bottom, two solid transverse walls and two other grid-like side walls. Bottom and walls are made of heat-resistant material. One transverse wall has claws to which a manipulator can be attached so that the cage can be lifted up and recovered from the car. This enables the coke to be pushed into the car without any smoke emission. The coke is already contained in a receptacle where the coke can be quenched by a wet or a dry method.</p> |
