The air conditioning system in a building (13) includes an air circulation system with a duct through which air (10) is forced by a fan (11) across an opening. The air is again collected after passing through a grid (16) forming a closed circuit. On the outside of the building, communicating with atmosphere (14), sensing devices (F1, F3) are mounted to monitor the wind direction, speed, pressure and temp. These are suitably positioned to give difference signals to a control system for the air conditioning arrangement. They operate in conjunction with further sensors (Ta, Tb) inside the return duct and also another sensor (F2) inside the building. The sensors can be mounted at more than one door or ventilating opening distributed around a room etc.
