1530278 Heat treating wires or bands TREFIMETAUX 15 Oct 1975 [18 Oct 1974] 42192/75 Heading C7N In the continuous heat-treatment of metal band or wire, the band or wire is formed into a closed loop by passing both the untreated and the treated material over at least one groove in a pulley, inductively heating the material in the loop, and cooling the heated material before it contacts the untreated material in the pulley groove. Untreated material 18 passes over pulley 1 in a groove Fig. 2 (not shown), over pulleys 3, 4 into induction heater 5, over a pulley 16 in cooler 7, through drier 8, over pulley 9 and thence to pulley 1 where the treated material passes over the untreated material (Fig. 2). The contact between the treated and untreated material in the groove in pulley 1 forms a short-circuit loop. The material may be of Al, Al alloy, Cu, Cu alloy or stainless steel.
|
