1530028 Feeding record tapes TELEPHONAX Inc & AMERICAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORP [Trading as AMERICAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS TELEPHONE ANSWERING SYSTEMS] 5 April 1976 [4 April 1975] 13629/76 Heading G5R A tape is selectively driven in one or other of two opposite directions according to which of two pinch rollers is engaged with its respective capstan, both capstans being simultaneously rotated in a common direction by a single motor. As shown, a tape 18 running between two coaxial spools 16, 18 passes on opposite sides of two capstans 36, 34 which are rotated in the same direction at different speeds by a single motor 38. Two pinch rollers 58, 62 are mounted on respective pivoted carriers 50, 52 which reeasably engage each other. Normally a spring 60 holds pinch roller 58 in engagement with capstan 36 to drive the tape 18 in the direction 80. Manual operation of a lever 66a, 66, 66b causes a tube 70 either, Fig. 1, to push carrier 50 which pulls carrier 52 by means of a spring 64, or, Fig. 2, to push carrier 52 which pushes carrier 50, in either case disengaging pinch roller 58 from capstan 36 and engaging pinch roller 62 with capstan 34 to give a fast reverse drive of the tape 18. |
