The process allows accurate positioning of a terrestrial or satellite television antenna by generating an audible signal which indicates to the operator the strength of the television carrier wave. The audible signal may be a train of audible pulses whose frequency varies with the amplitude of the television signal carrier. The appts. comprises means (10) for measuring the amplitude of the carrier wave, means (11-14) for converting the measured amplitude to an electrical signal and loud speakers (16,17) to emit an audible signal.
