Method for the production by carbochlorination of anhydrous aluminium chloride comprising contacting an alumina source comprised of agglomerates and a chlorination agent in the presence of a reduction agent in a bath of melted salts containing at least an alkaline and/or alkaline-earth halide, which is characterized in that, in order to cause an intimate contact between the gas, liquid and solid phases, a lining of the bath of melted salts is formed by means of said agglomerates. The application of this method leads to an hour production of aluminum chloride which is considerably improved, without requiring complex and costly technological solutions. |
