In an extrusion process (D) in which the thermoplastic extrudate passes through a temperature controlled die and onto calibrating die in a cooling zone the changes of wall thickness in conjunction with temp. changes in the region of the calibration die are registered. The temperature is controlled in relation to the registered correlation and a pre-determined wall thickness. The temperature in the calibration die are controlled in sections running lengthwise along the die. Temperature in the extrusion die can also be controlled in a similar way in longitudinal sections. USE/ADVANTAGE - (P) produces continuous extruded sections particularly piping and can produce a more accurately dimensioned product than previously.
