The arrangement includes a device which is connected to an electrical direct current source. The device includes an electrically conducting source in contact with a semiconducting plastic material. - The arrangement provides cathodic protection. The tube (I) to be protected is connected to the negative pole of the source via an insulated cable. The anode arrangement is directly connected to the positive pole of of d.c. source. The current I flows from the positive pole of source to the arrangement which is placed at a distance (0.0002 m to 100 m) from the metal tube, in an electrolyte. When the current reaches the metal tube it passes to the negative pole via the tube and the insulated cable. (Provisional Basic previously advised in week 8515)(2a)
