The invention relates to the machining of metals. The device forming the subject of the invention is of the type comprising a casing 1 enclosing a cutting head 2 and a deformation head 3, the cutting head 2 being constituted by a disc 12 comprising, on its face, an emerging groove 13 in which a tool holder 14 is placed, to which cutting tools 15 are fixed in opposition with each other and which is mounted so that it can "float" perpendicularly to the axis of rotation of the workpiece, and is characterised in that the cutting head 2 is mounted in the casing 1 by means of bearings 8 and is provided with a rotation drive, the tool carrier 14 being fitted with limit stops 16 which are placed in opposition, thrust elastically towards each other and which orient the tool holder 14 in the floating plane of the tool holder. The device in question can be used especially in the construction of tractors, agricultural machines or motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
