A developer comprises carrier particles (A) and 1-6 wt.% of toner particles (B), based on the amt. of (A). Carrier (A) is produced by coating iron powder, as the base material, with a butadiene polymer in which Fe3O4 powder is dispersed. The butadiene polymer contains 50% or more of 1,2-polybutadiene units, contg. side chain double bondings, and has the number average mol. wt. of 10,000-200,000. The binder resin for (B) is a bisphenol Aepichlorohydrin type exposy resin, which has m.pt. of 60-160≦̸C and an epoxy equiv. of ca. 450- 5500. The developer has excellent mechanical strength, stable charging characteristics and excellect printing characteristics.
