Biologically active substances are separated from an aqueous phase during biospecific adsorption on an inorganic ligand system consisting of a nonporous support membrane chosen from SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2 and ZrO2 in fine particle form (submicronic), separation and subsequent leaching with another aqueous phase from which the substance can be recovered. The support is produced by silanization of particles with a trialkoxyalkylsilane, in which the alkyl part contains a reactive group that can be coupled to the ligand. The substances are used for processing various macromolecules, for example, in affinity chromatography on up to an industrial scale.
