PURPOSE:To ensure that the transfer density of a recording material such as dye can be controlled to a desired value and maintained as such in terms of uniformity and reproducibility by detecting the condition of the recording material and controlling the output of a heating means for the recording material based on detection information. CONSTITUTION:The phototransistor 39 of a photodetector part 70 consisting of a combination of a laser 78 and a light-receiving element 39 is connected to an area between a power supply voltage Vcc and a ground through a resistor R1. In addition, a common connection point between the resistor R1 and the phototransistor is connected to the non-inverting input terminal of an operational amplifier 64. Further, the inverting input terminal of the operational amplifier 64 is connected to an output terminal through a resistor R2, and at the same time, is also grounded through a resistor R3.
