Self-centring freewheel intended to be inserted radially between the external cylindrical surface 2 of the shaft 1 and the internal cylindrical surface 4 of a housing 3, and axially between two axial stops 9, 10 of the shaft or of the housing, which freewheel is of the type comprising, on the one hand, a cage 6 containing wedging cams 5 and a strip-shaped spring 7 acting on these cams 5 and, on the other hand, two bearings 8 situated on either side of this cage, characterised in that it comprises an elastic device 11 with a high degree of flexibility, interposed at at least any one place of the chain of juxtaposed parts comprising an axial stop 9, a bearing 8, the cage 6, the other bearing 8 and the other axial stop 9, so as to exert, between the two parts between which it is interposed and for all values of overall axial play permitted by the build-up of manufacturing tolerances, a minimum axial force capable of preventing the tipping of the bearings 8. <IMAGE>
