PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and ozone resistance of a photosensitive body by incorporating a specified naphthylhydrazone compound in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body has the photosensitive layer containing one or two kinds of the naphthylhydrazone compounds represented by the formula shown on the right in which each of X and Y is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, phenoxy, or aryloxy; R<1> is naphthyl; R<2> is H, lower alkyl, alkyl, aryl, optionally substituted phenyl, or aralkyl; each of l and m is 1 or 2. When this compound is used for transferring electrostatic charge of the photosensitive layer composed of a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer, the obtained photosensitive body is especially high in sensitivity and low in residual potential, and small in fluctuation of surface potential, deterioration of sensitivity, accumulation of residual charge, and the like even during repeated uses. The photosensitive body is formed by preparing coating fluids containing said naphthylhydrazone compound and the photoconductive particles, and additives, such as a sensitizing dye, an electron attractive compound, a plasticizer, or a pigment, coating a conductive substrate with these coating fluids, and drying them.
