PURPOSE:To read a small-sized image inexpensively in an area of stable luminous quantity by controlling the drive state of a recording member moving means in matching with rising characteristics of a fluorescent lamp to eliminate the need for a means for controlling the rising characteristics of the fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:A luminous quantity sensing sensor 5b measures to what extent the luminous quantity of the fluorescent lamp reaches after a prescribed time (to) after a print switch 19 is depressed. When the luminous quantity is in the 1st region (between Id-I1), the recording is executed by a conventional sequence operation without any problem. On the other hand, when the luminous quantity is in the 2nd region (between I1-Io), the speed of a sheet winding motor 25 of a DC motor is not increased up to a set number of revolutions Nb, but remains less number of revolutions (N1) to wind a sheet member 2 slowly thereby prolonging the time t1 substantially.
