Method and apparatus for forming a heat shrinkable plastic sleeve label and applying that label to a conveyor transported container with subsequent shrinking of the label into tight conformance with the container, including the improvement of heat or adhesively sealing the seam of the sleeve with an adhesive or hot air means (13, 14) operating inside a continuously rotating sleeve mandrel (6), the top load strength of the sleeve label is also enhanced by methods and apparatus which automatically form top-to-bottom creases in the sleeves.
