PURPOSE: To form an image having a high optical density by heating an assembly as image, transferring a thermotransferable reducing agent of an amount according to its heat amount to a receiving element as image, and then separating the donor element. CONSTITUTION: The method for thermal transfer imaging comprises the steps of forming a donor element containing a donor layer containing a binder, a thermotransferable reducing agent capable of reducing a solver source to metallic silver upon heating and particles protruding from a surface of the donor layer on a support having a thickness of 3 to 10 μm, forming a receiving element containing a receiving layer containing a silver source capable of being reduced upon heating in the presence of reducing agent on a support in such a manner that the donor layer is opposed to the imaging layer and an assembly formed in this manner is heated as image by using a thermal head, transferring the agent of the heated amount to the receiving element as image and separating the donor element from the receiving element. |
