PURPOSE: To efficiently remove paper dust, ink and other contaminant from the orifice plate of a printing head by providing a rotary viper of a multiblade and providing an apparatus for continuously and automatically cleaning wiper blades. CONSTITUTION: When a printing head carriage 14 passes from left to right toward a service station, the rack 76 on the underside of the carriage 14 is engaged with a pinion gear 74. When the carriage 14 is further moved to enter the service station, the pinion gear is clockwise rotated and a gear 72 and a wiper 60 are further counterclockwise rotated by the rotation of the gear 74. The blades 62 of the viper 60 pass a printing head in a cleaning area to wipe the orifice plate 35 of the printing head to remove ink, dust and other contaminant. When the respective blades 62 wipe the printing head to pass the edge of a scraper 80, the contaminant is rubbed off from the blades 62. |
