PURPOSE:To shorten original exchange time by monitoring the transportation speed of a fed sheet member and switching-controlling the image scanning mode of the sheet member. CONSTITUTION:A sheet original which is separated by a separation belt 6, is fed through a first feeding path and is loaded on a platen 3 is image-scanned by moving an optical scanning unit. A sheet original which is separated by a separation belt 14, is fed through a second feeding path and is loaded on the platen 3 is image-scanned by moving the optical scanning unit. The optical scanning unit is fixed to an arbitrary position, the sheet original is moved at prescribed scanning speed and an image is scanned. A controller part CONT 1 selects and executes one of the scanning modes based on the feed speed of the sheet original by a speed detection means. For copying one to one less than a half size, original exchange time is shortened by using 6 strolling read mode as a third mode. |
