PURPOSE: To lengthen the life of a negative plate by adding a very small amount of specified metal or compound to a negative active material. CONSTITUTION: Paste prepared by adding about 0.002% or less metal whose hydrogen overvoltage is lower than lead or compound of the metal, such as oxide and sulfate, to an active material containing lignin, barium, and carbon is filled in a negative grid made of lead-antimony base alloy containing 1.2% or less antimony or lead alloy containing no antimony to prepare a negative plate. The negative plate and a positive plate prepared by using a positive grid made of lead-antimony base alloy containing 1.2% or less antimony or lead alloy containing no antimony are stacked through a separator. |
