<p>The valve assembly comprises a ball valve having a through bore formed in it. The valve is rotatable in the conduit section between and an open position in which at least a portion of the bore registers with the inlet and the outlet of the conduit section to permit the flow of the fluid through the conduit section, and a closed position in which fluid flow through the conduit section is prevented. An insert is disposed in the bore for reducing the noise caused by the fluid flow though the ball valve. The insert comprises a first portion having an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the bore and exposed to the inlet. A second portion has an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the bore and exposed to the outlet and a third portion extending between the sections.</p> |
