PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibrator which can be simplified in constitution and can be laid on its side when it is mounted so as to reduce the height, a method for adjusting the vibrator, and a vibrational gyroscope using the vibrator. SOLUTION: The vibrator 1 is constituted of a tuning-fork type vibrator 4 and a supporting body 6. When a rotational angular velocity ω acts around the Z-axis while each vibrating piece 2a and 2b vibrates in the X-Y plane, forces F1 and F2 respectively act on the pieces 2a and 2b in the opposite directions along the Y-axis due to a Coriolis force and moments M1 and M2 act on both ends of the base section 3 of the vibrator in the same direction. Because of the moments M1 and M2, the supporting body 6 makes flexural vibrations in the X-Y plane. The flexural vibrations are detected by means of a piezoelectric substance. |
