摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a BOD(biochemical oxygen demand) instrument capable of preventing contamination caused by a previous water sample even in the case that the length of the conduit introducing a sample water from a water sample source to a microbial electrode part is long. SOLUTION: This BOD instrument 10 is provided with a microbial electrode part 2, a flow cell 3 with a liquid inlet 31 and liquid outlet 32 between which a liquid arranged into contact with the microbial electrode part 2 passes, and a water sample guiding part 8 which guides a water sample from a water sample source S to the liquid inlet 31 of the flow cell part. A water sample guiding part 8 comprises a water sample tank 83 which stores a water sample, a water sample channel 84 connected to the water sample tank 83, a water sample pump 82 which intervenes in the water sample channel 84 and transfers a water sample from the water sample source S to the water sample tank 83 via the water sample channel 84, and a dispensing means 85 which dispenses a water sample from the water sample tank 83 and introduces it into the liquid inlet 31 of the flow cell part 3. The water sample tank 83, water sample channel 83, and water sample pump 82 can be washed together by a new water sample sent from the water sample source S by the drive of the water sample pump 82. The water sample tank 83 is formed of an overflow tank.
