The water distribution point (3) accepts an electronic payment card (7) to authorise delivery of water. The distributor has a valve (30) allowing passage of fluid when a membrane (34) closing the internal chamber (36) is displaced. The membrane is displaced by water pressure when a solenoid valve (5,5') is operated to allow inlet pressure onto one side of the membrane. The solenoid valve is controlled by two taps (9,11) and the reader (6) that accepts the payment card.The pressure on the membrane is controlled by one of the taps (9), which by-passes the solenoid valve, allowing control of the rate of water delivery (3). The two taps are spring-loaded so they automatically return to the closed position after a time.
