The load support unit (3,4) is placed between the floor (1) of a transporter and the chassis (2) of a trailer or a vehicle which is carrying a load (5). The chassis (2) of these trailers or vehicles are mounted on spring-loaded axles (6,8) which normally deflect under loaded conditions so that the insertion of the support unit (3,4) takes some of the load normally taken by the axles (6,8).
