PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device of high brightness and high contrast by decreasing back scattering electrons causing halation to the utmost while restricting the energy loss. SOLUTION: An image forming device comprises a rear plate 201 provided with plural electron emission elements, and a face plate 205 disposed facing the rear plate 201 and provided with phosphor 206 on a facing surface to the rear plate 201 and aluminum film 210 formed on the phosphor 206. On the rear plate 20 side surface of an image forming member, a carbon film 207 of a film thickness satisfying an expressionδc<=47Va<2> +57Va (δc is the film thickness (Å) of the carbon film, Va is an acceleration voltage (kV) to accelerate an electron beam emitted from the electron emitting element) is provided.
