PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive active material for a nickel-lithium secondary battery with high capacity and excellent cycle life characteristics by imparting thereto structural stability. SOLUTION: A positive active material for a lithium secondary battery is represented by LiaNi1-(x+y+z)CoxMyNzOb(formula 1) where a, b, x, y and z are defined as 0.95<=a<=1.05, 0.01<=x+y<=0.5, 0<y<=0.1, 0<=z<=0.05, 1.7<=b<=2.3, where M is at least one of La and Ce, and N is Mg and Sr. |
