PURPOSE:To produce an electrically conductive refractory by incorporating magnesia-carbonaceous brick pulverized material, an electrofused and/or burnt magnesia clinker, a graphite raw material and a pitch based and/or phenol resin based binder. CONSTITUTION:A kneaded material is obtained by formulating a blend so as to contain >=10% magnesia-carbonaceous brick burnt bat or the pulverized material of the used brick and the electrofused magnesia clinker and/or fired magnesia clinker, the graphite raw material and the pitch based binder and/or the phenol resin based binder and kneading. Next, the magnesia-carbonaceous burnt brick having low heat conductivity of <=1X10<-3>OMEGA.m specific resistance is obtained by burning the kneaded material after molding into a specific shape. And a magnesia-carbonaceous monolithic material to be a consumable material and having <1X10<-2>OMEGA.m specific resistance is applied on the magnesia- carbonaceous burnt brick to use as a refractory for bottom electrode. |
