Composite sealing strip for seam between adjacent concrete castings forming part of e.g. tunnel, has thickened edges extending the length of the seal

The long edges (2,6) of the seal are enclosed in conrete castings (4,8). The core (16) of the seal is of woven plastic fibre with a high tearing resistance. Its outer casing is of rubber whose maximum elasticity is in the range 50-150 per cent. Thickened edges extend the length of the seal, either continuously or intermittently. The centre is bowed to allow for relative movement between castings.
