<p>A wheel comprises a pair of shell halves (12), one on each opposite side of the wheel, the two shell halves together forming a hollow wheel shell. Each shell half comprises an annular cheek (18), an outer cylindrical wall (20) extending from the outer periphery of the cheek axially inwardly, and an inner cylindrical wall (22) extending from the inner periphery of the cheek axially inwardly. A tyre (16) is mounted on the wheel shell, the tyre overlying the outer cylindrical wall of each of the shell halves. There are undercut step formations (25) on the outer cylindrical wall. These form a tongue which enters in an undercut groove (26) along the inner periphery of the tyre. Each shell half further comprises a plurality of circumferentially spaced, radially extending, plate-like ribs (14) which extend axially inwardly from the cheek.</p> |
