PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element having a long life. SOLUTION: For the organic electroluminescent element obtained by laminating an anode, a luminous layer including phosphorescent complex compound of iridium, an electron carrier layer composed of organic compound, and a cathode, the luminous layer, composed of carbasole compound as a main component, includes 0.5-8 wt.% of above complex compound of iridium.
